Festive Retreat: Holiday Mantelscape

Now on to the mantelscape for the holiday season.  Our Christmas mantel, its simple and elegant. Just the right style for me. You may recall an earlier post that said we do not have a mantel.. Well, we finally have one right above our fireplace and we actually DIYed this mantel of ours.
It still needs some more sanding and staining for it to be ready for full display but we are very happy with how it turned out. Finally, we have one  traditional element in our assymetrical home. Our sectional faces towards the TV/Mantel/Fireplace so it was a much needed focal point.
As for the mantelscape, I've tried to keep it to simple accent pieces that fit the colour scheme of our home. White candles, a bit of greenery to carry the green from the Christmas Tree and finally the red from the red and gold ornaments from the tree.

"Be Joyful"
Last year, I purchased the "Be Joyful" Christmas Plaque during the Homesense Final Clearance sale during February for 70 cents. All the other decor piece were simple decor pieces from my crafts box.

Another view towards the Balcony!

We are really loving the new showpiece on our TV wall. It adds a rustic feel to the room and gives it warmth with the beautiful warm wood tones.

I will show you the DIY mantel tomorrow. When I look around the room now, with the twinkling Christmas Tree and the wonderful ambiance of this season, I just want to make a cup of hot cocoa and sip it by the fireside.  So stereotypical but ever so heartwarming.
I hope you have a warm and cozy holiday season.
